The Bouncing Souls Find “Power” in the Darkness
New Jersey’s own The Bouncing Souls embrace the idea of finding strength in darkness with their latest track, “Power.” The band teamed up with acclaimed producer Will Yip (Turnstile, The Menzingers), known for capturing raw live energy while encouraging vulnerability — an ideal match for the Souls’ signature East Coast “f#ck you” energy and positive mental attitude.
Vocalist Greg Attonito shares:
“Pete showed up to the studio with a cool demo — it was just him and his voice on guitar, running through these ideas about power. All kinds of power. It was compelling… landing somewhere between Jim Carroll, Bob Dylan, and HR. When it hit the whole group, it became a classic songwriting wrestling match, with Will Yip officiating.
How do we turn this cool idea into a Souls tune? Along the way, I think we were able to clarify some of the gold in that demo and make it shine brighter. We all have power, and we’re all stronger together when we’re searching for the light.”
Beyond Ten Stories High, the band also worked with Yip on singles like “World On Fire” and “United,” further cementing their creative chemistry. Throughout these collaborations, Yip has been instrumental in helping The Bouncing Souls balance their trademark punk energy with a renewed sense of vulnerability and songwriting maturity.
To accompany the song, the band released a music video filmed and edited by Bob Sweeney. “Power” carries the same fierce, anthemic vibe found in fan favorites like “True Believers,” “Lean on Sheena,” and “Hopeless Romantic.”
The Bouncing Souls are gearing up for their East Coast “f#ck you” tour, with support from hardcore veterans H2O, Adolescents, Dave Hause & The Mermaid, Jack Knives, and School Drugs. The tour kicks off December 4 in Houston, TX, and wraps up in Glasgow, United Kingdom.
