Texas Is the Reason Announces TX30 EP and New York Reunion Show
Formed in 1994, Texas Is the Reason released their only studio album, Do You Know Who You Are?, on Revelation Records in 1996. Not long after, the band made the unexpected decision to disband—not due to creative burnout, but because they felt they were beginning to lose sight of their original vision.
Though their time together was brief, Texas Is the Reason left a lasting impact. Tracks like “Do You Know Who You Are,” “Back and to the Left,” and “The Magic Bullet Theory” helped define the second wave of post-punk and emo in the mid-1990s.
Since their breakup, the band has reunited sporadically—first in 2006, and later for a more extensive run of farewell shows between 2013 and 2016. At the time, those performances were billed as the “final, final shows.”
Now, Texas Is the Reason is returning once more with the upcoming release of the TX30 EP, the first in a series of special editions marking the 30th anniversary of both the band’s formation and their influential debut album.
The TX30 EP includes “Something to Forget (Version I),” a rarely heard track originally released in 1995 on a limited-edition split 7-inch with the band Samuel. A reworked version—“Something to Forget (Version II)”—later appeared on Do You Know Who You Are?, produced by J. Robbins of Jawbox.
To celebrate the release, the band has announced two reunion shows: one in New York on December 12, followed by a performance at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, scheduled for June 3–7, 2026.
Texas Is the Reason: TX30 Special Edition is available now for pre-order via Revelation Records. The official release date is November 28, 2025.
